Our team completed a challenging, fast-track fit-out of new restrooms and cloakrooms in the West Wing of Guildhall for the City of London Corporation. With the existing facilities having been in situ for more than 40 years, they had not only become out of date but also no longer fit for purpose.
We were tasked with refurbishing the member restrooms, installing enhanced and additional guest facilities to make the most efficient use of the floor space and maximise the number of simultaneous events that can be held across the Guildhall complex.
The project presented a number of challenges, including a tight 12-week programme for completion and the need for the strip-out phase to be conducted carefully to ensure the building fabric and numerous original features that were to be retained were not damaged in the process. In addition, noise constraints were put in place due to the occupied nature of the building, which impacted the timings of our works.
Nicholas Sommerville, Principal Project Manager at the Property Projects Group, said: “QOB had a positive and accommodating attitude to completing the design whilst working in an occupied environment. Despite unforeseen works associated with the existing building, the QOB team worked late shifts and weekends to get the works presentable for a timely practical completion.
“The City are very pleased with the quality and finish achieved; all the more remarkable given the restricted programme and fast pace of the project.”
